We have recently completed works for one of our clients in the banking sector in Lincoln. The ceiling had been affected by damp, with the ornamental plasterwork de-bonding in places; cracks were also visible across the roof and strapwork decoration was loose.

Cracks and de-bonded plaster were filled up to 60mm in plain plaster. Loose plaster panels on the ceiling were secured by cutting out a 40mm diameter circle and inserting a washer and screw into the joist above.

On the plaster panels had been screwed into the joist to spread the load, the holes created by the washers were infilled in with a mix of lime putty and fine casting plaster. A section of water damaged plaster was hand repaired, including bead and reel decoration.

Below are some final images of the works once it has all been completed, as you can see the historic, ornamental ceiling has been repaired, with cracks and de-bonded plaster filled. All restored to its former glory!
